Carlin is pleased to confirm that Hunter Yeany will join the team in their 2023 FIA Formula 3 line-up.

17-year-old Yeany already has a strong racing record following a fantastic 2020 season where he was crowned theF4 USA Champion following a dominant year in which he took eight wins on his way to the championship title. The American racer already has experience in the Carlin car, and working with the team, in the form of a productive test during officialF3 post-season testing in Jerez back in September.

Yeany spent his karting career in America where his talent was quickly recognised. By 2020 he was racing in the F4 USA championship and made history by becoming the youngest ever series champion, taking a dominant eight victories, 14 podiums and six fastest race laps over the course of the season. Yeany set his sights on the European racing scene next and partook in multiple series in 2021 as he looked to gain as much single seater experience as possible: including the GB3 Championship in the UK, Indy Pro in the US, and FIA Formula Three.

For the 2022 season Yeany signed up for his first full season in FIA Formula Three however found his year curtailed somewhat following an unlucky wrist injury at the Red Bull Ring. As a result of this, Yeany found himself sitting out a total of seven races (nearly 40% of the entire season) –losing valuable track time behind the wheel.

Back to full fitness and the injury fully behind him, Yeany is now focusing on the 2023 season in which he’ll join Carlin’s FIA Formula Three team for a season long campaign. Yeany is the first driver to be announced in Carlin’s line-up following a solid 2022 season in which the team built on their foundations and took two podiums and a pole position with their full rookie line-up.

Yeany said of joining Carlin,

“I'm really excited to announce that I will be racing with Carlin in Formula 3 next year. Carlin was the first team I ever tested with in Europe so it feels like a bit of a coming home! Let's rock it in 2023!”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin added,

“We are really happy to be able to confirm that Hunter will join the team for the 2023 FIA F3 season. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Hunter in the post-season test, it was nice for us to have a driver with some experience of the FIA F3 car to give us some direction, so I look forward to continuing that relationship. We feel Hunter has far more potential than he has shown, especially because he missed a handful of races due to injury last year. I know that we will be able to hit the ground running come pre-season testing in Bahrain.”
