The penultimate qualifying session of the 2024 season saw the British racer immediately on the pace and able to set a flying lap around the Belgian circuit to put his Rodin Motorsport car at the very front of the grid ahead of Sunday’s Feature Race. Joseph Loake qualified 18th and Piotr Wisnicki in 23rd in a session which saw drivers all frantically vying for the same area of tarmac on track in the dying moments.
A challenging practice session earlier in the day with mixed weather conditions faded into the rear view with a dry qualifying session on the cards this afternoon. The Rodin Motorsport trio made sure to make the most of this track time and were soon setting strong sector times. However following a mid-session break and a change to fresh tyres, the final runs saw the entire field fighting over the same area on track.
With everyone keen to take advantage of an all-important tow, Voisin made sure to get a banker lap on the board during his first flying lap which placed him brilliantly in provisional pole position nicely ahead of time. This great strategy paid off and he was able to secure pole position while those around him failed to improve on their flying laps as they all crossed the line just minutes later.
Loake continued to improve and took the flag in 18th position while Wisnicki qualified in 23rd – traffic for both drivers playing its part.
Having taken his debut pole position in the fiercely contested FIA Formula Three Championship and continuing his stellar form in the series, Voisin said,
“It’s pretty amazing. First pole for me in this series and a first pole for the team in quite a long time as well. We’ve been working extremely hard to get these results. It’s nice to see that it’s finally paying off.”
