Louis Sharp joins Carlin for F4 British Championship

Louis Sharp has joined Carlin’s line-up in the 2022 ROKiT F4British Championship the team is pleased to confirm.  The New Zealander will make his firstappearance on a British track this week at Brands Hatch and will race thisseason with the support of Rodin Cars as he makes his racing debut outside NewZealand.  

 

Sharp has a strong record in karting back home and by age 12had won more national titles and series wins than any other racer his age.  A strong performance in Super GT NZ Series in2021 brought the youngster to the attention of Rodin founder David Dicker, whosesupport has allowed the 14-year-old to follow in the footsteps of compatriotLiam Lawson, who will also race with Rodin branding in Carlin’s FIA Formula 2team.  

 

Speaking about his 2022 programme, Sharp said, “It’s all adream come true. I’m excited to kick of my journey with Carlin, the same teamas Liam where the likes of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo also raced.  Thank you so much to David, everyone at Rodinand my sponsors back home for their incredible support, without which this amazingopportunity would not have been possible.”

 

On the team’s newest signing, Trevor Carlin said, “Louisclearly has a lot of potential and I’m excited to see how he progresses as he familiariseshimself with the track and car here in the UK. This is exactly what the British F4 Championship is about, providing afantastic proving ground for young drivers from across the world.  With the new Tatuus Abarth package and theincredible circuits we have here in the UK, this is the perfect training groundfor tomorrow’s racing stars.

At just 14-year-old, Sharp will miss the first round of theseason at Donington, only turning 15 before round two at Brands Hatch.  Sharp will race alongside already confirmedteammates, McLaren Junior Ugo Ugochukwu and Williams Racing Academy DriverOliver Gray.

 

Sharp will have his first taste of the British F4championship today, as he takes to the track for official testing at BrandsHatch, just two days after arriving in the UK.
