Mansell heads to Spa off the back of a fantastic opening weekend in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship in which he clinched his debut victory following an impressive opening corner overtake. The Australian racer is already a proven race winner in British Formula Four after a stellar rookie season in 2020 and now looks to expand his skill set with a trip to the Belgian circuit.
This will be the first visit to the Belgian circuit for the 16-year-oldhowever the infamous seven-kilometre track provides him with another great challenge as he looks forward to three action packed races.
Mansell said of the weekend, “I’m definitely excited for the weekend. I can’t wait to drive such a cool car at such a great track! To be honest I’m going there with no expectations really; the plan is to drive as fast as possible and enjoy it.”
Trevor Carlin added, “This is a great opportunity for Christian to get some valuable track time in a different car and at a circuit he’s never raced at before. We think very highly of the Euroformula Open Championship and the opportunities it presents to the drivers, so this is a welcome addition to Christian’s and our 2021 schedule.
“Obviously, the car will take some getting used to however, after his strong debut in the British F3 championship at Brands Hatch, I have no doubt that he’ll learn quickly and enjoy the weekend.”
