Newly announced Williams Racing Academy driver Oliver Gray will join Carlin’s F4 British team for an assault on the 2022 season. The British teenager will take part in his second season in the junior series.
British F4 race winner Gray made an early start to his 2022season, taking part in selected rounds of the F4 UAE Championship earlier this year. Gaining invaluable experience of the new Tatuus Formula 4 car, Gray secured a podium at Yas Marina in only his second race in the highly competitive field. Prior to this Gray was a 2021 British F4 two-time race-winner, with a pole position and fastest lap to his name during his rookie season which saw him classified seventh overall.
Gray joins confirmed teammate Ugo Ugochukwu in Carlin’sBritish Formula 4 team as the duo continue their pre-season testing in the all new for 2022 Tatuus T-421. The 2022 season will see Gray take part in 30 races over ten race weekends at iconic circuits such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington.
16-year-old Gray today has also been confirmed as a WilliamsRacing Academy Driver and becomes the third Williams junior to join Carlin this season alongside Zak O’Sullivan will participate in FIA Formula Three and Logan Sargeant in FIA Formula Two.
Speaking about the season ahead, Gray said, “I’m really excited to be embarking on my second year of the F4 British Championship withCarlin. Winter testing has gone really well so far and the new car is amazing to drive. To come into the season with the support of Williams Racing is just a dream come true and I’m hugely thankful for their belief in me. I’ve got a great team around me and the championship title is my only aim this season.”
