Carlin is pleased to announce Logan Sargeant will join the team for the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship. It will mark the third season for Carlin and the American racer, after campaigns together in the F4 British Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship.

This week will be a busy one for the Williams Racing Academy Driver who will take part in the post-season F1 test tomorrow at the Yas Marina Circuit.  Following his first outing in F1 machinery on Tuesday, Sargeant will join Carlin for three days testing in the official post-season F2 tests from Thursday.

Sargeant re-joins Carlin after a successful season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.  The Floridian claimed four podiums including a race win this season after becoming a last-minute addition to the 2021 field. Sargeant was a championship contender in the series in 2020, but a heart-breaking season finale saw him drop from title contention to third overall.

Sargeant’s first season with Carlin was back in 2017 when the American joined Carlin’s championship winning F4 British team. Sargeant went on to finish third that year with 10 podiums including two race wins to his name.

Sargeant is the first driver to be named in Carlin’s 2022 FIA F2 line-up.  The team finished third in the 2021 Team Standings and look towards the 2022 season with championship title ambitions in both Team and Driver standings.

Speaking about his F2 programme, Sargeant said, “This is an incredible week for me! To get my first taste of the FW43B tomorrow and then follow that up with three days testing in my new F2 car is just incredible.  I can’t wait to re-join Carlin who have been so strong in F2 and get to work on our 2022 programme.  Big thanks to Trevor, my management at Infinity and of course Williams Racing for this incredible opportunity.”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin added “We’re delighted to work with Logan who has always been a great talent. Having worked with him in F4 and F3, it’s great to now be able to complete that ladder in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.  Over the years we’ve seen him grow and mature as a driver and without a doubt he’s ready for a strong campaign in F2.  We’re also very proud to be entrusted by Williams Racing with their newest Academy Driver and look forward to getting the programme underway this week in official testing.”

Carlin will be back on track for F2 official testing from 16th– 18th December.
