Ella Lloyd has today been announced as the team’s first driver for the 2025 F1 Academy season, racing in the McLaren Formula 1 Team entry, operated by Rodin Motorsport as the British outfits team up for the upcoming season.
As part of F1 Academy’s ongoing collaboration with Formula 1 teams, Rodin Motorsport is proud to be working with the McLaren F1Team which sees Lloyd racing in the now iconic, and instantly recognisable, papaya colours. She will also join the McLaren Driver Development programme spearheaded by Stephanie Carlin meaning Lloyd will be perfectly placed to further expand her career and racing pedigree.
One of the most exciting British female drivers, 19-year-oldLloyd joins the F1 Academy team off the back of an incredibly successful wildcard appearance in the series during the Singapore round of the 2024season. Lloyd gave an impressive account of herself, qualifying high up the order and finishing in the points in both races around the incredibly technical and physically demanding Marina Bay Circuit.
Lloyd returns to the Surrey based squad, having made her single seater debut with Rodin Motorsport in 2024 following a two round cameo appearance in the Formula Winter Series during which time she took female trophy classification wins in the championship. For the 2024 season, the Welsh racer competed in the British Formula Four Championship where she finished the season 11th overall taking a total of four podiums and multiple points finishes along the way.
Speaking on joining the team, Lloyd said, “I’m proud to be joining the 2025 F1 Academy grid with Rodin Motorsport in the McLaren F1Team entry. I now have everything I need to keep developing and pushing the boundaries as a female in motorsport; I can’t wait to go racing and get behind the wheel of the F1 Academy car again.”
F1 Academy Team Manager Benn Huntingford added, “We are really looking forward to welcoming Ella back to Rodin Motorsport for the F1Academy season next year. She has already shown brilliant promise in her debut season in single seaters and we are hoping we can help to continue to develop her talent.”
