It was a dominant Donington display for the Rodin Motorsport team this weekend as they secured every pole position and race win on offer over the course of the penultimate round the of the 2024 GB3 Championship. Louis Sharp took two pole positions and followed up with two stunning lights to flag victories, while Arthur Rogeon took spoils in race three's reverse grid race and the fastest lap to claim pretty much every accolade on offer at Donington Park Circuit. Freddie Slater, making his GB3 Championship debut with the team, was a strong points scorer throughout and consitently added to the teams' tally.
After two days of testing, qualifying on Saturday was a wet affair. Heavy downpours made saw a scramble in the collecting are before qualifying as teams quickly changed from slick tyres to wet weather tyres to ensure they started on the correct rubber. On track, it was clear that the Rodin Motorsport trio had good pace in the challenging conditions however track limits flashed up on screen throughout and lap times began to be deleted up and down the board.
The final moments of qualifying saw Sharp get across the line with the smallest of margins before a red flag came out and ended the session early. Incredibly, this last dash saw him take the fastest lap for pole position alongside an earlier second fastest lap to secure both poles of the weekend. Unfortunately for both Slater and Rogeon, the flag came out just as they were about the cross the line on their fastest laps therefore unable to finish and losing potential positions on the grid.
Sharp pulled away easily as the lights went out on a slightly damp race one; a relatively uneventful race for the Kiwi racer saw him take a lights to flag finish and stand on the top step of the podium. Slater crossed the line sixth and Rogeon 12th.
A fresh day on Sunday saw another pole for Sharp, and once again he shot off the line well and held his nerve throughout the race to take his second race win of the weekend and extend his championship lead. Slater had a slightly more eventful race and made it up to third place before being penalised back down to fourth for a move on track. The British racer however showed brilliant racing calibre throughout the race. Just behind in fifth, Rogeon had a storming opening lap from tenth and had quickly gained positions over his competitors - the young Frenchman's pace and overtaking skills once again on display.
The third and final race of the weekend was finally in wonderful dry conditions and saw Rogeon line up at the very front. Without looking back, he maintained his lead throughout and crossed the line to take his third win of the weekend. Slater and Sharp behind crossed the line fifth and sixth respectively with Sharp extending his championship advantage over the weekend to an impressive 33 points. Rodin sit at the top of the team standings with one final race weekend to go with a margin of seven points.
