Rodin Motorsport’s Louis Sharp has taken 2024 GB3 Championship honours at Brands Hatch this weekend following a tense title showdown. The Rodin Cars backed racer took victory in the second race of the weekend on Sunday and followed up with a solid final stint behind the wheel to clinch the title in brilliant style. More fantastic high-scoring points finishes from Arthur Rogeon and Callum Voisin throughout the weekend also ensured that the team took the overall title; their first team championship win as Rodin Motorsport.

Qualifying on Saturday morning gave the first indication of speed for the young New Zealand racer as Sharp secured pole position for race two during the 30 minute shoot out. Rogeon qualified ninth while returning GB3champion Voisin, who stepped back into the car for the final round of the season, qualified 11th overall.

Off the line for race one Sharp found himself out a littlewide and dropping down the order – not the start to a nerve-wracking weekend he had hoped for but still collecting strong points to make his Sunday checklist somewhat easier. When the flag fell he was seventh with Voisin eighth and Rogeon ninth as the trio ran line astern.

The main event on Sunday provided multiple ways in which the championship could be won for both the team and Sharp. Giving himself the best chance in race two, and going from pole, Sharp was quick to assert his position at the front of the field however had his two championship protagonists keeping an eye on his from behind. Maintaining positions throughout, the flag fell with the top three championship contenders taking the top three positions meaning the fight went down the wire on Sunday afternoon. Rogeon took the flag in sixth and Voisin in tenth.

It was a similar story of going down to the wire for the team’s championship in the final race. Having swapped places with Hitech on Saturday, the Rodin trio’s strong second race of the weekend put them back ahead before the final race of the weekend.

Keeping his Rodin Motorsport car free from trouble during the opening few corners as the lights extinguished for the final race of the 2024season, it looked to be smooth sailing for Sharp as he hunted down the championship title. At the front, Voisin was challenging Nikita Johnson for the lead of the race but also had Rogeon for close company behind.

A challenging track to overtake on, the race itself was a little processional once again however yielded an incredible result for the team with Sharp holding position in the pack to clinch the drivers title as his own –a feat for the rookie driver who came into the championship as the reigning British F4 champion. Meanwhile a second and third place finish for Voisin and Rogoen respectively added all important points to the tally and took Rodin Motorsport to the teams’ title.

Sharp said of his championship win, “I’m super happy. I have to give a big thank you to everyone at Rodin Motorsport team; they’ve done a mega job this year. Obviously it’s my rookie season in GB3 and they got me up to speed very quickly; it’s my third year with the team and I really can’t ask for much better and my success is really down to them, so a huge thank you to them.”
