Entering FREC for the first time in 2026, Alex Ninovic, Gabriel Gomez and Reza Seewooruthun joined the team as it took on one of the most competitive junior single-seater championships in Europe.
The season began with four Trophy rounds in the Middle East, giving Alex and Reza valuable experience before the European championship got underway. The team then made its FREC debut in Spielberg, where all three drivers quickly made an impact across the three-race weekend.
Reza and Alex initially celebrated a double podium in Race 2, finishing P2 and P3 respectively, before a post-race 10-second penalty saw Alex drop out of the podium places. Alex returned to the podium in the final race of the weekend, claiming P2, while Gabby secured the Rookie win.
Reflecting on his first campaign in FREC, Gabby said:
“It’s been a challenging but very valuable season for me. Moving up to FREC and joining Rodin Motorsport was a great opportunity in my career, and throughout the year I experienced some really strong moments, as well as some difficult weekends where things didn’t quite go our way. The difficult weekends taught me a lot about myself, the car and the level of this championship. I’m really grateful for the opportunity to have raced in FREC this year and to have worked with all the people at Rodin Motorsport.”
The team continued to build through the season, with Reza delivering another podium result at the Hungaroring in Round 5. After topping his qualifying group in Qualifying 1, he went on to claim P3 in Race 2, securing the team’s third podium of the season.
Reza reflected on his season:
“What a year it’s been in the Formula Regional European Championship. We’ve experienced the highs of poles and podiums and the lows of being outside the points. I’ve learnt so much throughout the season and this will be putting me into good stead moving on through my career. I cannot thank the boys at Rodin enough, they have been exceptional all season.”
As the season progressed, the campaign continued to provide valuable experience for the drivers and team as the new programme developed across a demanding championship.
After a demanding double-header to close the season, Alex finished P10 in the Drivers’ Championship, Gabby P14 and Reza P16, with the team finishing P5 in the Teams’ Championship with 144 points. To finish fifth in the championship in its debut season is a significant achievement and a strong foundation to build on.
Reflecting on the campaign, Alex said:
“What a season! 2026 was full of great experiences, valuable lessons and unforgettable memories both on and off the track. Every weekend was another opportunity to learn, improve and keep pushing forward, and I’m grateful for everything this season has brought. Proud of the progress we’ve made and excited to take everything from this year into 2027!”
FREC Team Manager, Ben Lathrobe, said:
“For our first season entering FREC, I would say it has been a positive year. It is a very competitive championship, with qualifying often being split by a couple of tenths. So, for us to join and be competing for podiums, I would say it’s been a success. The focus is straight onto next year so we can start even stronger. I would like to say thank you to the three drivers and all of the team members for their hard work.”
